| November 10, 2006 Alaskan in Exile by Neil Zawicki On the day the filthy Republican criminals got it up the pipe after years of corruption, lies and power lust: One sunny morning, little Tommy woke up to feel the breeze on his face. He sat up in his bed and smiled. Today was Field Day. Soon he would be laughing and playing with his school chums, eating cake and drinking soda pop while bunnies twitched their noses in the farm field next to Patterson Elementary School. “What could be better than a day like today,” said Tommy as he sat down at the breakfast table. “How about raspberry waffles?” asked his mother. “Oh boy, raspberry,” said Tommy. Just then, Scamp, Tommy’s favorite beagle, began to bark on the porch, and Tommy knew his good friend Michael was waiting outside. “Hi, Mike, be right out,” called Tommy. “Oh, want some raspberry waffles?” “Do I ever!” shouted Michael. Later in the day, with many blue ribbons from Field Day pinned to their book bags, Michael and Tommy turned down the old dirt road to the swimming hole. The air was warm and the sky was a deep blue, and little wisps of clouds drifted on the horizon. A bird began to sing, and Michael started to skip. So did Tommy. “Race ya to the swimming hole!” shouted Tommy, and the two boys broke into a laughing run down the dusty road. They hit the water with a grand splash, popping to the surface with shouts of joy. Next, Tommy noticed a pair of fawns drinking at the far end of the swimming hole. They looked up at him and seemed to nod, and then they bounded off into the forest. As the sun began to set, Tommy and Michael kicked rocks down the road on their way to Michael’s house, and toward the wonderful smell of his father’s famous barbecue. It was the best day ever. For the record: As of 1 a.m. Thursday, the BBC, MSNBC and CNN all reported the Democratic victory in Virginia … except for Fox News, which not only continued to call the vote there a toss-up, but ran a front page story about the space shuttle being moved to the launch pad in early preparation for a launch at the beginning of next year.
