| March 16, 2007 Alaskan in Exile by Neil Zawicki, insurgent49 I’d like to welcome to members of the Evangelical Christian community who have made the innovative decision to reject President Bush’s war. That’s right, recent polls show a growing number of the Conservative Christian Community are voicing opposition against the war. These are the same God-Crazy hillbillies who voted for Bush a second time and who supported his un-provoked invasion of Iraq. Now, many of them have turned against him and his killing situation over there. Curious. It took you this long to come around to the idea that maybe war and killing go against the basic teachings of Jesus? There is something gigantically wrong with your policy when not even the most gullible in our society can give you the benefit of the doubt. Bush and his team of marketing warlocks put the moves on the Christian voting base to win the White House, selling a shiny lie of God and War and Fear and anti abortion and anti gay marriage. That’s how they pulled it off. And now those same Bible Belt voters are still waiting for the administration to wave the magic God wand and rid the earth of such sins and inequities. Come a little closer: Are you listening? He never intended to effectively address those issues in the first place. He just needed your vote, and he knew how to get it. And now you’re feeling a little guilty, probably because you know people who have died, not to mention all the dead outside your America, and nothing Bush said he would do has happened. Here’s your hollow messiah. He walks with a swagger. “I voted for George W Bush because he gave a shout out to Christ during a debate and all we got was this protracted war. I don’t get it.” “Say there, Jessup, we been fooled, I reckon.” Maybe next time you’ll pay a little more attention. But it’s nice to have you on the team.
