"army dude" - firmly planted (thank god) on 4th ave. in front of "Army/Navy Store", downtown Anchorage.
he made me imagine what it might feel like, if he was for real, running on the sidewalk and looking to shoot someone ? of course, I thought about Iraq and the innocent people who live there and all the other places in the world where military people are everywhere and sometimes killing people right in front of you and thoughts like that....

vacancy
"vacancy" - taken 2003 along Spenard Rd., Anch., AK

"my office"  -  june 2001, McNeil River Bear Sanctuary, AK
that computer monitor had just washed ashore that morning from
godknowswhere or why ?
Before I spotted it and took the the shot, Larry (the guy in charge of the place),  told us that earlier that day he took some shots of an inquisitive bear
discovering the monitor, and slapping it around a bit......

"flagday  2001" -  taken out front of home in Anchorage suburb
It was "flagday" and I was driving from a friend's house on my way downtown to shoot some of the "flagday" ceremony
I'll never forget what it felt like to see that flag sitting there w/ the garbage like that on "Flag day" of all days !! I mean, it was definitely one of those exhilarating feelings w/ "goosebumps, up and down the body" (in regards to getting that shot). You know, "that moment of truth" shot ...  "words cannot express" shot in terms of the timing and all....
After arriving home I told a friend about it and she said, "that's against the law"!!  ... I didn't know that.

"wienie roast" - taken summer 2004, Homer AK
weinie roast

"hummer w/ war license plate" - 2003, downtown anchorage near courthouse.
A friend told me hummer belongs to a guy w/ the "war" initials and his last name is Ross ? Anyways, he happened to show up while I was taking the shot, smiled and asked if I’d like to take a closer look @ his  car.  I said, "no thank you" and walked on.

"GWB and Fox News"  - Nov. 2001 on TV in Anchorage downtown mall.
I'm often stunned / sickened when I watch him (which is rarely) and hear him...
for me,  it has to do w/ seeing / hearing more lies; You just cannot escape them.  They are everywhere ! It often does get "under my skin".

"art display of mannequins and moi" - fall 2003, opening of new contemporary art institute, Cincinnati, OH
There was a time when the Japanese gov't. did an advertising blitz about working women of all kinds and used this particular expression on all it's models, or something
like that...... anyways, I set this shot up w/ me in it cause, it just so happened that all the gal models were wearing converse tennis shoes  AND SO WAS I .  loved that, so much... me being a gal "working stiff" and all........
