‘Common Sense’ Part II

According to ‘Loose Change’, a 9/11 documentary film, the whole attack was initiated by the U.S. government. For about an hour and a half, everything that is stated by the narrator and all the evidence presented makes one seriously question our government.

Last night my husband and I thought to sit down and watch this conspiracy nutbag film. As it began, I reminded myself that I live in a nation that is pretty screwed up, but not screwed up enough to kill thousands of its own citizens and portray the whole incident as a terrorist attack. Yet, with every scene, I doubted myself more and more. I am not a scientist, but what I watched truly stunned me.

The images are stuck in my mind and the arguments are very convincing. I won’t go into the details because I believe that everyone should watch it and decide for themselves. I myself do not know what happened on that day. I have no real concrete idea and it pisses me off that the absolute truth is buried under layers of theories and politics.

Trust my government? I want to. After all, it was the infrastructure of good ol’ Papa government that allowed me to get a formal education, and to grow up in a land where opportunity was real. I suppose that is the magic of it all.

How can one not trust their government when they live in comfortable homes, drive nice cars, go to movies on weekends, and have a life where economic struggles are not a constant?

Welcome to the middle class ... constructed for the sake of security for the government. No revolutions will exist with a dominant middle class because when people are comfortable they see no need for drastic change. Furthermore, the notion that we live in a real democracy, meaning our government is based on the will of the people, can’t be wrong … can it?

Now who sounds like a conspiracy nutbag? But, it makes sense, doesn’t it?

History tells us that our government is truly fearful of the people rising up. The first Red Scare, from 1919-1921, was a time when notions of socialism and communism were quickly put to death. But a resurgence occurred based on the will and the desires of the people. From 1939-1954, many Americans truly wanted a government to call their own and stepped back to these socialist ideologies. Both times hundreds and thousands were tortured, imprisoned, and killed … almost silently.

Unfortunately, our historical memory has become diluted by economic booms, the thrill of televised media, wars, and apathy toward politics and the social betterment of society.

And now here we are, and even what I am writing could be deemed as propaganda by many. The difference is that I am not getting paid; it is my conscience that seeks to find truth and to truly understand the ways of our country and government.

So, why would our government attack our people? To initiate a war, in order to gain domination over resources and remain a global economic power. If we think about it, they are actually looking out for well being … they want us to stay satisfied. If they knock off only a small percentage of our population for the sake of igniting a war, in the end the rest of us will prosper. And the power elite will reign forever.

    Could this be real?

But, then again … I do not know if this is a reality of our government. Does that make me a conspiracy nut, too?
