| Submissions Are you tired of feeling like a voiceless minority in a state that's among the reddest of the red? Consider Insurgent49 a great place to get it off your chest. We publish original articles by current or former Alaskans on a variety of topics, including civil liberties, corporate media, Native rights, gay & lesbian issues, the war in Iraq and conservation. Also, we are seeking cartoonists, photographers and other artists to contribute work related to politics and social issues in the 49th state. Insurgent49, Alaska's most comprehensive progressive newsite, is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to publishing thoughtful and passionate work by and for Alaskans. Guidelines We basically run two types of stories here at i49: opinion pieces (located in the 'Insurgents' column), and "straight news" features (located in the main column). For opinion pieces, we only ask that they be a minimum of 500 words. For feature articles, we ask for a minimum of 1000 words and that they be well-researched and contain background information and sources, and include interviews and photographs when appropriate.
